It has been a somewhat different winter – one that has been influenced by climate change – with relatively warm temperatures and a variety of precipitation. Despite that, winter-lover that I am, I have managed to get out on my cross-country skis 30 times as of March 1. There were times this winter when there was little or no snow so I went out hiking instead – I do enjoy (and need) the exercise, plus I love to explore wild places in all seasons. The mode of travel can vary depending on conditions, weather, and type of destination. Looking ahead, like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get in upstate New York, especially in late winter and early spring. READ MORE

On Your Mark, Get Set, Go… CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge

The CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge, the largest running and walking event in the Capital Region, is coming up on Thursday, May 18 at 6:25pm at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. It’s organized by and serves as the major fundraiser for the Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club, and the welcoming event is a rite of passage in the local running community. Runners and walkers complete a 3.5-mile loop around Washington Park, which is a hub of activity all year. Registration is open for business and organization teams of all sizes with a registration deadline of May 1. READ MORE
