It comes as no surprise that the Boreas Ponds area has become a popular destination for folks who are willing to expend just a little effort so as to experience the incomparable view of the Adirondack High Peaks from across its waters. Access was limited in 2022 due to the fact that the road bridge over the Boreas River at LaBier Flow needed replacement, but as of late May of this year, things are back to normal and the general public can drive the dirt and gravel Gulf Brook Road for 5.8 miles to at least the Four Corners parking area. Marathon and Half (13.1M) Season – It’s Fast Approaching!

Barely into summer, it seems frivolous to wish our lives away and anticipate autumn. But for runners, fall signals marathon and half marathon season, which is much more than a wake-up, glance out the window and register for a morning race kind of thing. Prior planning to cover such a long distance is essential. The good news is, by the time September rolls around, the hot and humid holding pattern we are stuck in now will hopefully dissipate. The bad news, is of course, we are stuck pounding out long runs in suboptimal conditions. Ramon Dominguez’s life changed on January 18, 2013, at the Aqueduct Racetrack. At the time he was one of the best thoroughbred jockeys in the world. He rode his first North American professional mount in 1996 and had raced on all the big tracks from the Kentucky Derby to Saratoga. He had 4,985 wins during his career and had won three consecutive Eclipse Awards (2010, 2011, 2012) that are presented to the outstanding jockey of that year.
